Leonard L. Touchette, MD
Dr. Leonard Touchette is originally from Norfolk, Virginia. He attended the University of Virginia, where he majored in Biology. He also earned a Master of Science at Old Dominion University, as he was finishing this degree he started at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Upon attaining his M.D., he began specialty training in Pediatrics at Norfolk’s King’s Daughters Children’s Hospital. His first practice experience was in a general pediatric group in Ohio, where he spent 12 years. Wanting to be in a solo practice, he returned to Virginia to be closer to his extended family and started Potomac Pediatrics, P.C. in 1992.
“Doctor T”, as he is known to his patients and staff, lives in Woodbridge. His wife of 45years, high school sweet heart Bonnie Touchette, is one of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioners working in the office. They raised four children, two boys and two girls, all now grown. The oldest three are all in the medical field, two of whom are active duty, U.S. Navy medical officers and one who, like her mother, is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and works at the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital. His youngest son is an Architect in Cleveland.
“My personal philosophy in pediatrics is to use every visit as a teaching experience while providing compassionate care based on the latest medical science. I try also to make patients of all ages feel at ease, diffusing their anxieties (and those of new first-time parents). While I continue to enjoy all areas of pediatrics, I particularly enjoy adolescent and young adult medicine, sports medicine, and working with ADHD patients.” – Dr.T
